Card Pro Kyoto is a good place to stop by if you’re a trading card game hunter visiting this part of Japan. It is located in the Kawaramachi shopping area, which isn’t difficult to find, especially if you are staying in the city part of Kyoto.
So, you know, over 30 card game shops are located all over Kyoto, and this is part of my Japan TCG shops series, and I visit them to see how interesting they are. Plus, since I usually spend around ten days or so when I travel, I love to take my time and explore these kinds of places, looking for some rarities.

As you stroll down Shinkyogoku Shopping Street near the Teramachi area, you’ll quickly come across Cardpro, conveniently located right next to Family Mart—depending on which direction you’re coming from! To make things easier, follow the Google Maps directions below, and you’ll find it quickly.

One of the great things about Cardpro is that their Japanese staff can communicate in basic English, making it easier for international visitors. A translation app will be handy for smooth communication if you encounter any language barriers.
Inside, you’ll find two walls lined with single TCG cards, with a strong focus on Pokémon TCG. They also stock a selection of other trading card games, including Dragon Ball. If you’re a fan of vintage Pokémon cards, you’re lucky—one side of the shop is dedicated entirely to classic Pokémon TCG cards, making it a must-visit for collectors.
For an extra touch of fun, the shop features a special Pokémon trading card vending machine. However, remember that it only carries the latest series so you won’t find older sets like Pokémon 151 or pre-2020 releases.

Prices for the cards vary widely, depending on rarity and demand, so whether you’re looking for a bargain or a high-value collector’s item, there’s something for everyone. Cardpro accepts Japanese yen and contactless card payments, making transactions convenient for visitors.
One thing that might surprise you is the diverse crowd—you’ll likely see more foreign visitors than locals browsing the store. Even more fascinating is the wide age range of customers, from young kids as young as seven to enthusiasts in their 60s, proving that the love for trading cards truly transcends generations.

Conclusion
I hope you found this article on Kyoto’s TCG shops helpful, as I enjoy visiting these places and sharing them with everyone. I was a collector in 1998 but stopped in 2000 and left the game. I only started collecting Pokémon cards in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Follow my blog as I have a list of trading card game shops in Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo, the three main Japanese cities where most card collectors will explore in search of rare or unique Pokémon cards or other TCG cards. Card Pro Kyoto is one of the highly popular TCG shops with English-speaking tourists.
