On the 1st of May, my car experienced a flat tyre due to a nail or something like that, and it was also a labour day holiday; therefore, all the tyre shops that I know which are usually open were closed.
I had gone to a petrol station to fill in more air before I embarked on my journey to look for an open type shop or kedai tayar around the PJ area.
There is one type of shop in Damansara Perdana that is usually open on Sundays, but when I came here, it was closed. Probably due to the labour day holiday.
So, I went to Taman Tun Dr Ismail, near Pos Malaysia and Shell, as there is a Tayaria outlet there, but it was also closed. Yes, Sunday, almost all the mechanics and type shops will be closed.
Then, I decided to head to Damansara Jaya because I knew the tyre shops around Damansara Utama were also closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Turning into Damansara Jaya, I passed one of PJ’s popular vegetarian restaurants, and just two doors from it was a corner type workshop which was open. Luck was shining on me, I thought and turned in.
Two foreign workers asked me what I needed, and I responded with a tyre change. They asked if I wanted to get a new tyre or use my spare tyre without hesitation.
I got a secondhand tyre as a temporary measure until I changed all of my car tyres within the next month. They did not have stock for my 17-inch 215/55 Continental tyres and hand to pre-order.
The experience was terrific as the Bangladeshi workers were professional and friendly. Everything took less than 20 minutes, and I was on my way back after that.
