Good news for photographers as the first Selangor International Travel Photo Festival 2022 will take place this 12-13 November at Paradigm Mall in Petaling Jaya Selangor.

This photography festival in Selangor is also organised by Selangor Tourism and co-organised by Travelution Magazine, who are also the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival organisers or KLPF.

This is currently an inaugural event, which is not large-scale but enough to satisfy new photographers or anyone interested to learn a little more about the state of Selangor in Malaysia. The poster above lists the itinerary; therefore, more accurate information will be available at the event.

Selangor is home to several exciting destinations that many have overlooked throughout the years, and events like this help promote these beautiful places. Sometimes we need not travel too far to experience places or even good food and cultural wonders.

As for me, I have taken the opportunity to explore Selangor over the last ten years and have discovered several fantastic places you can go for a day trip or just an overnight trip. Even for photographers, many of these places can be visited in half a day or just one full day.

Therefore, I will also be giving a talk at the event on the 12th Nov Saturday, at 2.15 PM, and my topic is ‘Smartphone Travel Photography Around Selangor’. My photography talk will highlight some fun and interesting places to visit in the state.

To showcase domestic tourism destinations in Selangor, this year’s Selangor International Travel Photography Festival will feature a photography contest along with exhibitions, conferences, cultural performances, seminars, and more.

Selangor managed to attract over 10.2 Million domestic tourists to Selangor in 2021, and listed Selangor as the most visited state in Malaysia. Through this year’s collaboration with the key tourism industry players, including Jumpstreet Asia, Selangor Fruit Valley, Eastin Hotel, Chocolate Museum, Jungle School Gombak, and Gamuda Land, the Selangor International Travel Photography Festival will be able to promote domestic tourism better.

Conclusion

For the record, I have been giving talks about travel photography, birdwatching in Malaysia and smartphone photography around Malaysia over the last ten years. I have also conducted photowalks in Malaysia as one of my pet projects. And I have also been doing smartphone reviews in Malaysia to test out many of the new phones.

The Selangor International Travel Photo Festival 2022 is new and targeting to showcase Selangor as a tourist destination in Malaysia. The main airport, KLIA and KLIA2, is located in Sepang, which is actually in Selangor. Many don’t know that, but when you land in Malaysia, you land in Selangor.
