KLPF 2023, or Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2023, takes place from 18-20 August at the KL Gateway Mall in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is also Malaysia’s largest photography fest or fair.
Every year, thousands of photography enthusiasts will attend the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival to see various photo exhibitions, talks, workshops and even learn about new products.
KLPF 2023
I have been attending the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival for many years, and since KLPF2022, I have decided to participate in showcasing my exhibition at the photo festival in Kuala Lumpur.
That was a huge move for me as I never did imagine having my small photo exhibition and showing it to the world. I know we all have our Facebook and social media channels to showcase our photos, but this is entirely different.
At this year’s festival, you can expect over 50 exhibitors and over 20 people to give talks, seminars and workshops. There are also travel and photography-related booths showcasing products and destinations.

Last year, my first exhibition was to showcase some stunning cave photography but using only a smartphone to challenge myself and see if it was achievable. In the end, I was also surprised by the photos’ outcome. You can see some of my pictures in this smartphone cave photography in Sarawak.
As I have been photographing for over 30 years, I have been active in various photography genres. For the last ten years, I have focused more on nature and birds; therefore, this year at KLPF, I am exhibiting my bird photography.
Apart from photography, I have been actively giving talks at various events over the last ten years. At KLPF, I have given numerous talks about travel photography, namely around Malaysia and Asia.
I still travel a lot for my work, but I have decided to focus more on nature and bird photography during my travels. And not only that, I have switched my landscape and street photography to my smartphones nowadays.
In the last five years, I have actively worked with Samsung Malaysia and Huawei Malaysia to promote their smartphones in photography. You can see my smartphone photography pictures from over 20 articles I have done in the last few years.

Apart from the bird photography exhibition, I will also give a 30-minute talk on 19th August at 2.00 PM, and my topic will be “Beginners Photography in the Kinabatangan River in Sabah”. This one especially goes out to those who are interested in both bird and wildlife photography and who are beginners.
My talks are usually created for beginners, amateurs, or those in the middle level because I never considered myself a professional or guru. I don’t take photography as my main job because I enjoy it as a hobby and sharing it with others.
You can read about the previous Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2022 as I had done an article last year.
